The Ordinary Skincare products

Hey! I’m so excited to do another skincare review. If you asked me a few years ago that I would be so interested in purchasing skincare products I would have told you a fierce no. Ha-ha! Anyways after recently seeing the hype in the Cult Beauty online store I decided my first purchase should be skincare products. I want to do another bog post about my experience shopping with Cult Beauty so be sure to check that out soon.

The products that I purchased from the ordinary was the Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, Lactic Acid 5% + HA and AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution.

But firstly, let’s start with why you should be using acids on your skin. Don’t be alarmed when you see “acid” in a product. They can be proven to be beneficial to the skin when used in the right quantities. They can used to combat fight acne, wrinkles, age spots, scarring, and uneven skin tone. Taking this into account I decided to purchase an affordable brand known as The Ordinary which quickly became a cult favorite.

I chose products mainly to smooth my skin and even out my pigmentation on my face. After searching a few bloggers reviews and watching YouTube videos I decided which products I wanted and made my purchase.

(Disclaimer: I used this products for quite some time before I can formulate a review. Also, I didn’t use these products together.)

Now for the product review!

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution (£6.80)

I think I was most excited to try this product. Especially knowing that glycolic acid products were popular in the beauty industry, I knew I had to try it. Glycolic acid is a derivative of sugar which is natural occurring substance that exfoliates the skin to help improve skin radiance. This product also contains Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to helps reduce irritation when using acids. It is also recommended to use this product in the PM as it makes your skin sensitive to the sun. I wish I could say that this product worked wonders for me, but it didn’t. It was like any ordinary toner that helped refresh and tone the skin. It didn’t even out my skin tone nor did it help smooth out my skin. This was a disappointing product for me.

The Ordinary Lactic Acid 5% + HA (£5.50)

Lactic Acid is known to be derived from milk which is more moisturizing to the skin than glycolic acid and is less likely to cause irritation. It is preferable for people with sensitive skin who want a mild exfoliation to even out their skin and reduce signs of aging. This product also contains Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative. I seemed to quite like this product. Although this product didn’t provide a dramatic difference to my skin, I did notice my blemishes lightening up a little bit. I will be buying the higher concentration which is the 10% next time.

The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution (£6.30)

I bought this as an extra but mainly because I was due for a facial mask. This is a 10-minute exfoliating facial. I was apprehensive at first to try this product because of its appearance of the red substance that straight up looked like blood. It contains 30% Alpha Hydroxy Acids (Glycolic/Lactic/Tartaric/Citric), 2% Salicylic Acid, Vitamin B5, Black Carrot and Tasmanian Pepperberry. I can understand why it is stated to use for 10 minutes. Almost immediately I applied this onto my face, it has this tightening sensation and burns a little in a few places, nothing too uncomfortable, but I guess this clears any congested pores and exfoliates your skin. After washing this product from my skin, I almost immediately noticed my skin being more smooth and radiant. From all the products I bought, I strongly recommend people to buy this product. It’s a complete game changer to your skincare routine!

That’s my review. I hope I was informative and covered some questions that you may have been asking. If not, contact me and ask me any question. Also, I’m very active on Instagram with makeup sessions and many more so you can check me out there. For now, take care!
