Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation

If you don’t know already, I’m always looking around for a good foundation. Especially one that’s good for my skin type and skin tone. When I stumbled upon this in store, I thought I should give it a try! To my dismay, I hardly found reviews online for my foundation color before but that didn’t stop me from purchasing it. I got shade matched and purchased it.

Firstly, let’s start with the claims!

Smashbox claims: “A high-performing liquid foundation that helps you face anything. Studio Skin evens skin tone & never settles into pores & lines. Find your perfect match among 40 shades (that won’t oxidize) & a broad range of undertones. It’s the same great formula—now proven to last 24 hours! TIPS BENEFITS USAGE”

When I went instore to get shade matched, the shade looked perfect under the store’s lighting but when I got home the shade looked darker. I might have to go buy a lighter shade soon. I have decided to overlook that and review the foundation based on its lasting power more than anything.

One thing that I love about Smashbox is that they are cruelty-free. But does this product live up to its claims and lasts for 15 hours? Read till the end to find out.

My take on this foundation:

The foundation comes in a sturdy glass bottle and most importantly it comes with a pump! Need I say more?

The texture:

It has a thin liquid consistency that runs down fast when I dispense the product on my hand before I can apply it to my face.

If you are looking for a full coverage foundation this one is not one you. When I applied one layer of this foundation on my face it was very sheer, and my skin was still peeking through. Same thing happened when I applied a second layer. After the third layer I achieved a somewhat full coverage.

This foundation dries down to a full matte finish that is water, sweat, humidity and transfer resistant. I did not notice the foundation oxidizing.

Lasting power:

For me it didn’t quite live up to its claims and did not last for 15 hours. I noticed my skin getting oily by the 4-hour mark. However, I think the hydrating formula might have caused it because my skin type is combination oily skin type. I did notice that if I set with a powder it lasts for about 6 hours before I notice my face getting oily.

Overall thoughts:

I’m on the fence with this product. I love full coverage foundations and I don’t like I have to use so much of product to build up to my desired coverage. It just means that this product will take quicker to finish and I’ll have to spend money again to purchase this. However, when I’m in the mood for a natural look, I might reach out and use this foundation.
