As far as I know, Bio oil has been in the market for a very long time and it has been a cult favorite over the past few years. A few people that I know who use Bio oil swear by it. It never occurred to me to use this product but when my mum purchased it for me, I decided to give it a try.
Bio-oil contains plant extracts and vitamins in an oil base. It has PurCellin Oil, which makes it light and non-greasy to ensure that the vitamins and plant extracts are easily absorbed. The main uses for bio-oil is for scars, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, ageing skin and dehydrated skin.
I absolutely love the smell of this product. It leaves me feeling so calm and relaxed. The product contains lavender oil which has is known to have a calming aroma and soothes the skin. The other botanical oils present is calendula oil, rosemary oil and chamomile oil. It also contains vitamin A&E. Vitamin A is known to promote skin cell production and even out skin tone. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that makes the skin soft and smooth.
Bio-oil is recommended to be used twice daily, for a minimum of 3 months. It is not advised to be used on broken skin and should be applied only once the wound has healed. A 200ml bottle retails for R199.99 and lasts me about 2 months.
So, from the time I have started using Bio-oil, I have noticed some changes to my skin. The first thing I noticed that my skin was left feeling hydrated and smooth after every application. It took some time to notice an evening out of skin tone. It wasn’t a dramatic difference, but it was a noticeable difference. With regards to stretch marks, I still don’t see much of a difference. I’m a bit disappointed with that part because that was the very reason why I wanted to try out bio-oil. However, I’m still happy that my skin is left supple and moist from using this product. I also do understand that results vary from person to person.
